The situation. A skilled family joinery business was represented online by a generic template site that undersold the craft entirely — no clear positioning, no real identity, nothing to distinguish a bespoke atelier from a general handyman listing. Worse, the site was effectively invisible in the searches that actually matter: the specific joinery and cabinetry terms a customer types when they're ready to commission real work.

The approach. Rather than another templated redesign, this was a restrained, editorial rebuild — real project photography doing the talking, with every page structured around how joinery clients actually search and decide, from first visit through to enquiry. As with every Vantage project, the structure was planned around the specific search terms and project types this business wins, built in from day one rather than bolted on afterwards.

The build. Built on WordPress to a fixed price, with a proposal agreed before a line of code was written, so there were no surprise extras partway through. It also meant the business kept a familiar dashboard underneath the new design — new project photos, updated pricing, or a fresh page can be added by the team themselves whenever they like, without waiting on anyone.

The result. Within five weeks of launch — on a brand new domain, with zero ad spend — the site was appearing in search for 89 separate commercial queries. That's visibility earned entirely on its own, from the exact phrases a customer types when they're ready to hire a joiner, not bought with a media budget.

Why it worked. None of this depended on ongoing ad spend or a large marketing budget — just a site built specifically around how this business's customers actually search, from day one, rather than adjusted afterwards. That's the difference between a website that merely exists and one that actively brings in enquiries.
